DEEP PENETRATION
INVADING TRIBESMEN IN KASHMIR Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 3. Invading tribesmen penetrated within 15 miles of Jammu, Sir Harl Sing’s present capital in South Kashmir according t<s Reuter’s correspondent in Jammu. Tribesmen attacked the Kashmir and Jammu State forces near Nawansharh. less than 15 miles south-west of Jammu. Invaders elsewhere in Jammu State used an opera tional pause to consolidate and reinforce their positions along a 70-mile front stretching north-westwards to Mirpuc. Pakistan offered India a military alliance with joint staff meeting! under the chairmanship, when necessary, of Field Marshal Lord Montgomery, reports the Daily Telegraph correspondent in Peshawar. The pro posal will be discussed on Decembej 5 when the Joint Defence Council meets in Lahore. Earl Mountbatten is reported to be urging the Indian Government to give it serious consideration.
