CHOICE OF SITE
FIREWORKS DISPLAY • 1, CENTENNIAL ATTRACTION ARRIVAL OF ENGLISH EXPERT The site of the pyrotechnic display on February 28 —Saturday of centennial carnival week—will possibly be decided to-day. Mr C. T. BrocK, of Brock's Crystal Palace Fireworks, Ltd., London, accompanied by Mrs Brock, arrived in Dunedin yesterday afternoon and is expected to accompany officials of the Otago Centennial Association on a tour of parks and open spaces to-day in order to tender advice on the most suitable site. The choice has been held in abeyance for some months pending the arrival of Mr and Mrs Brock. No matter where the display is attempted it is certain that it will be on a scale never previously attempted in the Dominion, and its brilliant and spectacular nature are expected to make it one of the outstanding features in a week of notable events. Mr Brock, who will be in charge of the production of the display, belongs to the eighth generation of his family to control the large fireworks business in London and the organising of lavish pyrotechnic spectacles is no new task to him. Mr and Mrs Brock arrived in New Zealand on a holiday visit some two weeks ago, and have visited a number of resorts in the North Island. They arrived in Dunedin by car yesterday afternoon after brief visits to Hanmer Springs, Christchurch, and the Hermitage.
