“SLEEPING BEAUTY”

DELIGHTFUL OPERETTA Pupils of Mrs Muriel Herbert presented a delightful operetta, “ The Sleeping Beauty,” in the Concert Chamber last night to an audience that obviously appreciated the efforts of the young performers. The settings and costumes were attractive and the production was a success. Proceeds of the performance will be given to the Leper Fund. The part of the Sleeping Beauty was taken by Dawn Robinson, who has an excellent voice. Larraine Keenan played the role of Prince Florinzel, while other parts were taken by Noeline Brocket (the witch), Lorraine Harvey (Princes Flibbertygibbet). Joyce Clarkson (the fairy queen), Elaine Richardson (the fairy queen), Vera Poole (the queen), Irene Donaldson (the nurse), Murray Jansen (the king) and Denis Chapman (the herald). A chorus of 60 added brightness to the ensembles and dancers from the studios of Miss Lily Stevens and Miss Ngila Slowley were an added attraction. Mrs John Harvey was the accompanist and Mrs Rita Dickel played for the dancing, with Bill Davie as violinist.
