Royal Tan in Fendalton Handicap
INDIAN DAWN A PROSPECT
Taking a line through his form in the New Zealand Cup, in which he finished second to "Beau le Havre, Royal Tan should go close to winning the Fendalton Handicap if he is reserved for it. He has 111 b more to carry than he had in the Cup, but will meet Eriskay, who finished fifth in the Cup, on only 21b worse terms. The two horses vvho finished between Royal Tan and Eriskay in the Cup are not engaged in the Fendalton Handicap.
Gay Stroller, sixth in the Cup, comes in on 71b better terms but that concession is not likely to bridge the gap between him and Royal Tan in the Cup.
Howe has been racing brilliantly at the meeting but he has a big task in front of him to give 181 b and a beating to Royal Tan. At the moment Indian Dawn, with Bst lib, looks likely to give the most trouble to Royal Tan. His second to Signal Officer in the Metropolitan 'was a particularly good performance.
