MUSICIANS’ AWARD

Sir, —I wish to draw your attention to a matter pertaining to the New Zealand performing musicians’ award. In a recent issue you informed a correspondent of the prevailing rates for dance band musicians. These figures revised as from April 1, 1947, should have, under paragraph 7 of the award, the addition of the two general court orders. The amended rates are as follows: Per player: 8-11 p.m., £1 3s 6d; 8-12 pm., £1 9s 7d; 8-1 a.m., £2 0s 9d; 8-2 a.m., £2 11s lid; 10 p.m.-12 p.m., £1 3s 6d; 10 p.m.-l a.m., £1 15s Bd. The leader of the band shall receive 10s Gd extra.—l am, etc., E. W. Crawford, President Otago Branch N.Z. Musicians’ Union.
