Royal Flash has had a change of owners and has joined W. Barr’s stable. The West Coast owner, Mr L. W. Timperley, has bought Voltaire, and has placed him with A. McMullan. He will contest the hurdle race on Saturday, while he is booked later for the Dunedin meeting. An attractive performance, enabled Coral Arc to win the Seymour Handicap. He drifted early in the journey, leaving him with a long gap to bridge in the straight, where he staged an impressive run. As the result of a mishap while playing in the paddock, he returned from his trip to Trentham without being able to race, and he had to be given a short rest His latest performance suggested that he would have been a Derby prospect with no check in his preparation. He ran the mile out so solidly that he may be expected to show more good form, over more ground, for his Dunedin owner, Mr A. N. Smith. The Salmagundi four-year-old, Blank Cheque, ran a good race to be second in the Seymour Handicap, after being near the front all the way. He is one to be kept in mind. Though owned and trained in the North Island, he was bred in Otago. His dam, Half Note, was a useful Paper Money mare, with Irish Note, a. very good horse, a Stewards’ Handicap winner, among her earlier progeny.
