SUPPLIES INCREASE
STRAWBERRIES AND CHERRIES PRICES MORE REASONABLE There is still no sign of further supplies of bananas or oranges for the Dunedin market, but strawberries and cherries are increasing in supply, and prices are now at a more reasonable level. The vegetable market continues to be over-supplied with almost all lines. Lettuce, which improved in value last week, have again become a glut on the market and sales are difficult, even at low prices. New potatoes from Oamaru and Outram are now in full supply, with ceiling prices ruling for the choicest lines. Growers are not grading their potatoes, and any lines not graded have to be sold as ungraded, at a lower rate. All potatoes sent to the market should be graded at the growers’ end and marked first or second grade. Green peas continue to be in good supply with prices on the low side. Broad beans are practically unsaleable.
