WAIAREKA SALE
INCREASE IN PRICES Special to the Daily Times OAMARU, Dec. 2. Prices for fat cattle at to-day’s Waiareka sale increased by 10s to £1 a head on those ruling last week. Prime wethers increased from 3s to 4s a head, and young maiden ewes 2s to 3s a head. Goodquality butcher ewes brought from Is 6d to 2s more, and there was a firm sale for pigs. There was a medium yarding of fat cattle and pigs. Quotations.—Fat cattle: Bullocks, prime £23 to £25 15s, medium £2O to £22 10s, light £l7 7s 6d to £l9 10s; heifers, prime from £ls 15s to £l7, medium £l2 to £l4, light £lO 5s to £11; cows, prime from £ll to £l2, light £7 10s to £lO. Fat sheep: Wethers: Wooly to 78s, shorn prime 66s to 71s, medium 60s to 645, light 55s to 58s 6d, unfinished sorts 49s to 525; ewes, maiden prime from 60s to 645, medium 44s 6d to 465, fat prime 30s to 32s 6d, medium 26s to 28s 6d, light 22s to 245. Store sheep: Two-tooth wethers from 29s to 35s Bd. Store cattle: Pen 11-months-old steers made £lO 10s. Dairy cattle: Cows from £ll to £ls 15s. Pigs made 55s to 61s.
