WAIKOUAITI COUNTY
MONTHLY COUNCIL MEETING At the monthly meeting of the Walkouaiti County Council Crs A. A. Reid (chairman), K. B. Ferguson, William Harris, C. T. McCallum, G. P. Reid and G Wilkinson were present. The closing of a railway level crossing a-quarter of a mile south of Waitati was approved. The council decided to put men on to cut the gorse on the roadline of property owners who refuse to cut their gorse, and charge the cost to the ratepayers. A copy of the final scheme for the creation of the Otago catchment district, as issued by the Local Government Commission, was received. Mr D. Gould, Karitane, was appointed surfaceman for the Merton Riding. The finance report was received, and accounts amounting to £786 Is 3d were passed for payment. CHAIRMAN APPOINTED At the annual meeting of the council Cr G. P. Reid was appointed chairman until the next annual meeting.
