FALL OVER CLIFF

DEER STALKING ACCIDENT P.A. ' WELLINGTON, Dec. 1. After lying all night half submerged in water at Stoney Creek, near Te Haroto, 43 miles north of Napier, a mill hand, Frederick Wright, aged 35, inarried, was found by a search party this morning in an unconscious condition. He went deer stalking yesterday and when he did not return last evening a search party was organised and this morning ne was found at the foot of a 30ft sheer cliff face. Alongside the body was a shot deer. It is thought that after shooting the animal Wright went to retrieve it, crashing over the cliff face into the creek bed with a force which rendered him unconscious. He was still unconscious when admitted to the Napier Hospital later to-day, being brought from Te Haroto by ambulance. His condition is serious, mainly through head injuries.
