HOMING PIGEON CLUB
RECORD VELOCITY REGISTERED The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew races on Saturday from Ashburton and Gisborne. Good' flights were made ir. foggy conditions. The race from Ashburton, 151 miles, was flown in 4 hours 44 minutes at a velocity of 935 yards per minute. Results:—J. Williams’s Kiwis 1, P. Fraser’s Civil Service 2, H. Millard's Park Ranger 3, W. Hargreaves’s Leith Trio 4, M. Anderson’s Hill Team 5. The Gisborne race, of 631 miles, was flown in 14 hours at a velocity of 1321 yards per minute—a record. Results:— J. Williams's Irene 1, J. Scoullar’s Almost 2, J. Williams’s Miss Sal 3, J. Williams’s Major and F. Scoullar’s Star Artist (equal) 4, M. Anderson’s Lone Star 6, P. Paterson’s Silk Cut 7, A. Fraser’s Peter Priang 8.
