SUCCESSFUL SHOW
Tokomairiro Farmers’ Club
RECORD NUMBER OF ENTRIES
In every respect the eighty-second annual show of the Tokomairiro Farmers’ Club, which was held at Milton on Saturday, was a record. The total number of entries reached a new peak of 935, compared with last year’s total of 816, the attendance was larger than ever before, and the gate takings (£158) considerably exceeded those of previous years. The show was held in fine weather and a large number of Dunedin people were among those present.
The stock entries, which numbered 103 last year, increased to 176 this year, the biggest improvement being in the sheep entries. The draught horses were of a high standard and the number of entries was double those of last year’s. Another feature which added to the gaiety of the proceedings was the unprecedented number of sideshows. The catering, which was in the hands of the Milton branch of the Plunket Society, was of a high standard
HORSES The exhibits were well up to the high standard set at Dunedin, said the judge The dry mares were particularly good and the champion gelding, the winner at Dunedin also, was an outstanding animal.
