INFANTILE PARALYSIS

Sir, —Now that Infantile paralysis, which may be the beginning of an epidemic, has broken out in the North Island and it has been found necessary to close all schools there, would it not be in the interest of the mothers of school children in the South Island to close all schools immediately, and thereby try to check the spread of this terrible disease before it breaks out in the South Island? Why wait until we have an outbreak here before any steps are taken to check it? As most schools have finished examinations and only two weeks remain until the holidays, this precaution to my mind is only right.—l am. etc., v' Father.
