AMERICAN “POSSESSION”
LEASED BRITISH BASE ON BERMUDA Rec. 9 p.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 29. The United States Circuit Court ol Appeals ruled to-day that the United States base on , Bermuda, obtained from Britain on a 99-year lease during the war, is a “ possession ” of the United States. , f Reversing the Federal Court ordei dismissing a suit for 50,000 dollars in overtime pay brought by 11 employees of contractors working at the base, the court said the “ cumulative effect of various provisions in the lease agreement with Britain compels the conclusion that the area is subject to fully as complete a control by the United States as obtains in other areas long known as ‘ possessions ’ of the United States.”
