TWO ENGLISH BY-ELECTIONS LONDON, Nov. 28.

The results of the two by-elections held yesterday were:—Howdenshire: G. W. O’Dey (Conservative) 23,344, T. Neville (Labour) 9298, J. E. Wilson (Liberal) 3819. In the 1945 election the results were: C. W. H. Glossop (Con.) 21,348, T. Neville (Lab.) 11,161, J. E. Wilson (Lib.) 5669.

East Edinburgh. John Wheatley (Labour) 16,916, John Jun'or (Liberal) 3379, Mrs D. Dott (Scottish Nationalist) 1682 D. Matthews (Conservative and Liberal National) 1149. The by-elections were due to the appointment of Mr G. R. Thompson (Labour) as Lord Justice Clerk of Scotland.

The 1945 results were: G. R. Thomson 15,482, T. G. D. Galbraith (Con.) 9665.
