SOUTH OTAGO STOCK

Fine Display at Balclutha RECORD ENTRIES RECEIVED Some of South Otago’s finest stock was on display at Balclutha yesterday on the occasion of the Clutha and Matau Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s 81st summer show. Despite the cold and a light drizzle late in the afternoon, the attendance was well above last year. The entries were a record, standing at 993, compared with 780 last year. The main increase, as has been the case at most shows this season, was in the light horse classes, although the cattle were also well patronised. The display of draught horses was second only to that of the Dunedin show and definitely one of the best seen in New Zealand to-day. ' / Although some of the sheep sections were light, entries over all were greater than for some years past and the general standard was good. The competitions events met with big fields and some excellent jumping was seen. Results:—
