FIRST CRICKET TEST

BRADMAN SCORES A CENTURY INDIAN BOWLING MASTERED Rec. 11.45 p.m. BRISBANE, Nov. 28. The amazing Don Bradman scored his 101st century to-day in the first test against India. It was his fourth in four first class games this season and his third against India on this tour. Although Bradman is now in his fortieth year, he showed some of his old peak form with savage hooks, smashing drives, and beautifully-placed cuts. His century took 171 minutes, but Bradman was a bulwark of batting against the solid bowling. He scored 120 of Australia’s 228 for three wickets. After passing the century he started to punish the bowling. A crowd of nearly 10,000 defied the day-long threat of rain, mainly because" of the Indians’ great popularity. India was on top for the first hour, during which Australia lost Brown, but then came Bradman to dominate the game. He won a great duel with Mankad and Amarnath. At stumps, Bradman was 160 (not out), and the score was 273 for three wickets. Bradman’s 100 took 216 minutes and included 18 4's. With Hassett, Bradman added 101 in «9 minutes for the third wicket.
