DISPUTE OVER EASTERN TERRITORIES

Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 28. The old dispute about Germany's former eastern territories, which are now governed as part of Poland, cropped up again yesterday when the Foreign Ministers started discussing the second item on their agenda, namely, “The preparation of the peace treaty with Germany (frontiers and procedure).” Mr Molotov said that so far as he was concerned, Germany’s eastern frontier had been settled at Potsdam and her territories now belonged to Poland. Mr Bevin and Mr Marshall both refused to agree that there had been any final settlement. » M. Bidault, who said he naturally was more concerned with the west, pointed out that the transfer of population had already taken place in the eastern areas on such a huge scale that it was difficult to imagine how the situation could be changed. The council adjourned with the Ministers still discussing various points in connection with the Potsdam agreement, and its effect on the preparation*! of the German treaty. The four Foreign Ministers and the leading members of their delegations will be the guests of the King and Queen at an evening party at Buckingham Palace on December 3. Mr Attlee will give a luncheon party in their honour at No. 10 Downing street the same day.
