LIGHTNING RAID
HOARDED MILITARY SUPPLIES JAPANESE BLACK MARKET RINGS TOKIO, Nov. 25. Public procurators raided 100 warehouses, factories and homes in a search for hoarded military supplies which, according to officials at General Mac-
Arthur’s headquarters, were used to finance rings operating behind the ‘ black curtain." Among the places raided were the Increased Production Association, which has been active in disposing of various goods in conjunction with the Kyoto Trefectural Government, and which is suspected of diverting an estimated 10,000,000 yens’ worth of goods to the black market. Three officials of the association were arrested. The homes of former members _ of the commercial and industrial section
of the Kyoto Prefectural Government, who were suspected of embezzling 10,000,000 yen, and the agencies of the Homes and Finance Ministries, were also searched. A scandal at Maizuru, a former naval station near Kyoto, is believed to include the disappearance of goods valued at 100,000,000,000 yen.
