SCOUT AND CUB NOTES
Scoutmasters and Cubmasters will meet in St. Paul’s Hall on December 9 at 7:30 p.m. On December 10 Weston Scouts and Guides will bold a concert in the Weston Hall in aid of food for Britain. Jamboree Scouts will asssit in the concert. The R.S.A. Ambulance banner competition will be held near the band rotunda in the Gardens to-day at 1.30 p.m. Full uniform, with staves and ropes, will be worn The banner last year was won by St. Kevin’s, with Columba runner-up. The welcome home to the jamboree Scouts will be held on December 13 at 7.30 p.m. in St. Paul's Hall. St. Paul’s Group .will bold a campfire for its break-up on December 12. Dominion headquarters has advised that no Scout will wear his jamboree badge or Empire insignia after December 31. Advice has been received that a lay workers' conference will be held at Timaru in March, 1948. The jamboree in Victoria, Australia, will be held from December 30, 1948. It is expected that a large contingent from New Zealand will attend. The new “ pup ” tents for summer camping are now available at 45s each, with postage extra. The Chief Guide, Lady Baden Powell, will visit New Zealand next year, and will be in Oamaru about February 20.
St. Patrick’s Group held a successful birthday party last Saturday. The Waitaki Troop will camp at Maruakoa this week-end, and the commissioner, District Scoutmaster Diehl, and jamboree Scouts will be present at the campfire to-night.
