Wheatlegger is New American Criminal
Wheat at 15s a bushel is bringing a new criminal to America, the wheatlegger. Workinp in gangs in farming States like Oklahoma, they drive up in lorries at night to a granary, bore a hole in the wall, and fill up from the stream of grain that pours out. The haul for an average night is £3OO. The director of Oklahoma’s Scotland Yard, Mr Jacob Sims, said: “It is not only safer than bank robbery, but there is more money in it.”
