DAMAGE TO BUST

EXAMPLE OF VANDALISM Damage that may prove to be irreparable was done to the bust of Dr Stuart in the grounds of Knox Church, probably on Wednesday night, when red paint or dye was smeared over the statue. The incident has aroused the indignation of Knox Church officers and some public comment. \Mr H. S. Bingham, who presented the statue to the church, said that the material used had stained deeply and it might permanently affect the marble. He was endeavouring to remove the stain, but was not sure what the result would be.
