CRICKET
Last Saturday a further round in the North Otago Cricket Association’s senior competition was begun. Runs came slowly in both the Oamaru A-Kurow and UmonOamaru B games. At stumps Kurow had completed its innings for 195 and Oamaru A had three wickets down for 106. Oamaru B made 194. and Union 63 for one wicket. Waitaki is in a good position, having made 250 runs against Albion s 113 for seven wickets. It is interesting to note that no fewer than seven of Waitaki’s batsmen were caught out, one going out lbw and. the other two being bowled. Only two of Albion's seven batsmen out failed to reach double figures. . Kurow started well against Oamaru A, and it appeared that they might have run up a big score. However, the last five batsmen were dismissed cheaply, only making a total of 18 runs. B. Dick, bowling for Oamaru, had a field day, taking five wickets for 24 runs. Oamaru also started off particularly well, making 106 for three wickets at stumps. J. Watson, who was not out for 40, batted with vigour. In Oamaru B’s innings, which closed for 194 runs, every batsman opened his account. Teams for To-morrow Union—Juniors: S. Campbell, K. Campbell Blair, Dunns, Collings, Allington, Paton L Forbes. Rawson, Madsen. Mitchell K Collins. Third Grade: Bartlett, C. T. Bathgate, C. Bathgate, B. Forbes, I. Forbes, Gray. G. Mitchell, Roberts, Gilchrist. Templeton. Cooper, O’Brien, McGregor.
