LAMB PRICES FIRM P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 26. The entry of store sheep at Addington to-day was 391 wethers, 320 ewes and lambs and 1494 hoggets, a total' of 2205. The hot weather is beginning to dry off feed in Canterbury, and the demand has become slacker. All classes of hoggets offered were a particularly good lot, mostly fat or very forward. Large lines were forward from d'Urville Island and from Otago, prices being Is to 2s below last week. Best made 33s 6d to 37s 6d; good, 30s to 335; inferior, down to 24s 3d. Only two sizeable pens of ewes and lambs made 30s 6d in wool and 26s 3d shorn. Small two and four-tooth dry halfbred ewes made 36s 3d and two pens of old crossbreds 28s 6d and 295. Three pens of adult wethers were sold and two were passed. Sales were at 27s Id to 32s 9d. The fat lamb entry was 370, and prices firmed because of the small entry and rose Is 6d to 2s a head. The entry, largely heavy lambs, was of excellent quality. Values: Extra prime, to 47s Id; prime, 39s to 445; good, 34s to 38s 6d; medium and light, 29s to 335. The fat sheep entry was 5500 of good quality. Wethers were firm, and ewes began above last week, but declined, but on the average were equal to last week. Very heavy ewes were hard to sell. Values: Extra prime heavy wethers, to 57s Id; prime heavy, 48s to 51s; prime medium-weight, 41s to 475; ordinary and light, 30s to 40s; extra prime hoggets, to 54s 7d; prime, 38s to 435; ordinary and light, 32s to 375; prime heavy ewes, to 42s 7d; prime medium-weight, 34s to 38s; ordinary, 29s to 335; light and unfinished, 22s to 28s. . , , , The fat cattle entry of 717 included a good proportion of first-class beef. Prices however came back £l, making the fall about £5 in the last month. Extra heavy bullocks and cows were the worst affected. Best beef made to 655, good 4as to 555, medium 37s 6d to 42s 6d; best cow, to 40s; secondary cow, to 37s bd Values.—Extra prime neavy steers, to £32 7s 6d; prime heavy, £24 to £26; prime medium-weight, £l9 to £23 10s; ordinary and light, £ls to £l7 10s; extra prime heifers, to £2l 7 S 6d; prime, £l2 to £l6 10s; ordinary and light, £7 10s to £11; extra prime cows, to £2O 12s 6d; prime, £lO to £l4; ordinary and light, £6 to £9 2Qg 4 The porker yarding was larger than last week’s big entry and contained too many over-fat pigs for this time of the year, values being easier by 3s to 4s. Choppers were in fairly heavy supply, values remaining unchanged. The bacon yarding was the largest of the season, values being down 5s to 6s for lighter and 3s to 4s for heavier. Values.—Light porkers, £3 14s 6d to £3 19s 6d; medium, £4 2s 6d to £4 9s 6d; heavy, £4 12s 6d to £5 2s 6d; choppers, £4 18s 6d to £ll 18s 6d; light baconers, £5 4s 6d to £5 14s 6d; medium, £5 17s 6d to £6 4s 6d; heavy, £6 9s 6d to £6 17s 6d; extra heavy, £7 0s 6d to £7 14s 6d.
