MUSIC STUDENTS
CLUB'S FIRST ANNUAL CONCERT The presentation of the first annual concert of the Dunedin Music Students’ Club last night gave convincing proof of the vitality of the art among the younger generation in this city. What the youthful performers lost in technique and interpretation they gained in freshness and Vl perhaps the most pleasing items were those in which the club choir, conducted bv John Matheson, was featured. The tonal blending in the choirs first song the old English " Summer is Icumen In, was delightful, but the choir really excelled itself in its final presentation, "The Shepherdess,’ by Dr V. E. Galway. Three groups of songs composed by club members were given by Betty Naylor lona Livingstone, and Geoftrey de Laiitour and while the compositions did not reveal’any hidden genius they were spontaneous. It was a pity that instrumental items, epart from the piano solos, did not figure more prominently on the programme.
