INHERENT DANGER
OIL TANKS NEAR CITY , AREAS P.A. AUCKLAND, Nov. 26. Danger to the city area from any oil storage tanks that might be established at Mechanics’ Bay was strongly stressed by members of the. Auckland Metropolitan. Fire Board at a meeting to-day. The- itself from e Js i p p'rotection authorities ha'd ‘ informed the Harbour Board that there was no objection to such proposals. In a resolution, the board said it recognised that the establishment of storage tanks at Mechanics’ Bay was permissible under the existing regulations. It recommended, however, that all oil installations should be moved away from city areas, a policy that had been Carried out in Brisbane.
