Cup Winner in Brilliant Form

RECORD FOR FOUR-YEAR-OLD

Since his win in the New Zealand Cup last Saturday, Beau le Havre has justifiably been placed on a high pedestal among the Dominion’s champions of the turf, and his performance of winning the race with 9.3 is a record for four-year-olds which will probably stand for a very long time.

As a three-year-old he was started 14 times for seven wins, a second, and a third, and his stake winnings were £7905. His total winnings to date are £ 13,690. The manner in which he gathered in Royal Tan when the post was in sight in the Cup was thrilling and showed him as a really class performer with his full share of gameness.

Beau Repaire, the sire of Beau le Havre, is a half-brother to Royal Chief, and was got by Beau Pere from Modiste, by Franklin. Pretty Brown, the dam of Beau le Havre, was got by Tommy Atkins (by Spion Kop) from Cloelia, by Lancegaze from Cleone, by the Tetrach from Pretty Dark, by Dark Ronald from Pretty Quick, by Eager from Cydaria, by St. Serf, so that the champion is rich in English blood. The Cup winner has built up a brilliant record and it can safely be said that he is now one of the idols of racing enthusiasts.
