WORLD SOCIALISTS’ PLANS
BRITISH LABOUR PARTY’S OPPOSITION N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 25. The British Labour Party has decided to oppose proposals that Socialisl political parties in Britain and Europe should form an organisation to combat the activities of the Cominform This proposal will be one of the chief matters for discussion at the international conference of world Socialist parties which will open at Antwerp this coming week-end. . tU The British point of view is that the British Labour Party as the Gov- , ernment of the country is no longer a free agent and that it cannot therefore agree to be bound by the decisions of any foreign or sectional body. The Socialist parties of France and ftalv are reported to be most anxious that the British Labour Party, which is regarded as the natural leader of European Socialism, should agree to ioin in a concerted effort to counter the activities of Communists.
