INDIANS' GOOD SCORE

MATCH AGAINST QUEENSLAND

HOME TEAM ON DEFENCE Rec. 11 p.m. BRISBANE, Nov. 24. India's visit to Brisbane was marked by the brilliant bowling of Mankad, his double with the bat, a brilliant 172 mot out) by Amarnath. and the revealing of an incident on Saturday when the manager of the Indian team, Mr Mankaj Gupta, protested to the Australian Board of Control claiming that the Queensland Cricket Association insulted him by ordering Warwick officials from the dressing room where Mr Gupta had invited them to discuss details of the Warwick visit. Warwick officials were also hostile and nearly left the ground on Saturday. The incident was not revealed on Saturday because the press was not allowed into the members’ stand or dressing room. Amarnath never looked like getting out and gave a glorious display of stroke-making. His 172 took 278 minutes and included a grand 6 and 14 4’s. India scored 369, a lead of 28, and then took three Queensland wickets for 60. Queensland with Brown on the doubtful list because of an injured hand, was early in danger of having to fight off an outright defeat to-morrow. Brown did not field to-day and was listed number 11 so as to save the prospect of a further injury to his hand before the test starts on Friday. Mankad was again on the spot and started with two maidens, and had one for 7 in the fifth over.
