SUMMER SHOW
OPENING TO-DAY DIVERSITY OF ATTRACTIONS Everything points to the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s summer show, starting at Tahuna Park to-day, being most successful. The show is back to its pre-war duration of two days, entries are good, the stock is of high quality, and, generally, the programme of ring events and amusements is outstanding. . Judging of the •' pig section will be commenced, and the dog trials will take place this morning, and in the afternoon there will be a ring programme of jumping, hunting, and pony events. For the night ctarmval, attractions will include whippet racing, motor cycle races, steer riding, sideshows and other amusements. The show will conclude to-morrow-with “ People's Day.” Beginning at 2 p.m., the feature of the exhibition of the country's prize stock—the grand parade—will take place. This will be backed up by light horse events, the Leaping Championship of Otago, and the finals of the dog trials and the Otago Steer Riding Championship. The Dunedin Fanciers’ Club dog show will also be held. As the finale, the night carnival will begin at 7 o’clock, when spectators will have an .opportunity to see two of Dunedin’s leading baseball teams in action. A Government film dealing with “Food for Britain,” will be screened at the show. An invitation has been given to members of the crew of H.M.N.Z.S. Bellona to visit Tahuna.
