EQUIPMENT BY AIR
BACK-COUNTRY DEER HUNTERS P.A WELLINGTON, Nov. 24. Supplies of food, building materials, and other equipment were being celled by employees of the. aerodrome section .of thei Public Departmept -at Rongotai this -morning m .preparation for delivery to deer, hunters' in back-country areas. They will be floyvn from Paraparumu to Auckland to-morrow, and on Wednesday R.N.Z.A.F. personnel will conduct tests in-dropping them by parachute on to the bombing range at WhanuaP£ The aerial dropping of supplies to deer-hunters was begun ■-■by ■ the ,P.ubuc Works Department last year; .but was abandoned in Janilary, when the Plane being used crashed in the Grebe Valley area. Both occupants were killed. Now, however, fresh arrangements have been made by the Internal Affairs Department with the R.N.Z.A.t. for the dropping of supplies. The Public Works Department, working m close co-operation with the Army and Tourist Departments, is conducting experiments in the packing of supplies to be dropped.
