PUBLIC MEETING ARRANGED MAYOR ACCEDES TO REQUEST The Mayor has acceded to the request of a deputation representing the National Council of Women and the Dunedin Mothers’ Clubs of the Plunket Society to call ia* - meeting to discuss the present position in Dunedin relating to closed and open maternity homes in the city. The deputation, consisting s of Mrs W. K. Cameron and Mrs A. K. Ibbotson (Dunedin branch of the National Council of Women) and Mrs F. N. Davenport and W. A. Warburton (Dunedin Mothers’ Clubs), waited on the Mayor yesterday morning, and Mr Cameron agreed to call a public meeting in the Council Chambers next Monday at 8 p.m. to give the women of the city an opportunity to discuss the subject. Arrangements are being made for speakers to deal with the many aspects of the subject.
