AMPHIBIAN PLANES

BUSINESS MAN'S PURCHASE P.A AUCKLAND, Nov. 24. Two Walrus amphibian aircraft, formerly the property of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, have been bought by an Auckland business man, Mr R. H. Exton, of Orakei, for £IOO. The planes, one of which is fully serviceable, were bought from the War Assets Realisation Board by another purchaser, who sold them to Mr Extoa for his private use. One of the aircraft is almost new, having flown only 108 hours, while the other, although capable of bein£ brought back to flying trim, will probably be used as a source of spare parts. Mr Exton said he planned to use his aircraft for pleasure. He had a bach at Lake Okareka, and might fly between Mangere and the lake on occasions. A former air force equipment officer, Mr Exton is also a club-trained pilot, but has not yet qualified on the Walrus.
