The 1948-49 senior track and field championships will be held in Canterbury as will the 1948 National Crosscountry Championship. The National Junior and Women’s Championships will be held in the West Coast (North Island). It was decided that in future the New Zealand Cross-country Championships must be held in August. An Auckland remit, that the junior relay event in the national championships programme be deleted, was lost. A Hawke’s Bay suggestion, that the 440yard “ leg ” of the 880 Yards Junior Relay be run first, was adopted. A recommendation was made to the incoming committee to approach the International Amateur Athletic Federation for an explanation why the high jump and pole vault events for record purposes were not included with the hop, step, and jump and long jump contests, where windage is taken into account. It decided that in future the retiring president of a centre may serve a further year on the executive with the office of immediate past-president. He will have power to vote.
