CURBING USE OF VETO
VOTED TO- LITTLE ASSEMBLY STRONG SOVIET PROTEST Rec. 8 p.m NEW YORK, Nov. 21. In spite of the objections of the Soviet bloc, the United Nations General Assembly .to-day decided to refer the question of curbing the use of the veto to the “Little Assembly.” The voting was 36 to 6, with Russia and her five satellites against the resolution. The Arab. States were among the 11 nations abstaining Mr Vyshinsky (Soviet), in an eleventh-hour attempt to defeat action on the veto, made a 90-minute speech, in which he declared: “ The United States must bear the consequences that must inevitably follow.” The veto was the first problem to be referred to the Little Assembly, which has been directed to consider ali ways of curbing the use of the veto and make recommendations.
