TO END THIS WEEK
PARLIAMENTARY SESSION EIGHT BILLS TO BE PASSED Parliamentary Reporter WELLINGTON, Nov. 23. Another two or three days is expected to be sufficient for the House of Representatives to complete the remaining business of the parliamentary session, which will have extended over 22 weeks. The legislative programme still to be dealt with will probably be disposed of by Wednesday night and the formalities associated with the end of the session on Thursday morning. The last of the legislation for this session was introduced on Friday, the House having eight Bills to pass before . Parliament is prorogued. They are the Emergency Regulations Continuance Bill, the Supply Regulations Bill, the Fair Rents Amendment Bill, the Maori Purposes Bill, the Statutes Amendment Bill, the Air Force Amendment Bill, the Patriotic and Canteen Funds Bill and the Land Laws Amendment Bill. Chief interest will be in the two measures dealing with the emergency regulations and in' the Fair Rents Amendment Bill, which provides for the compulsory letting of empty houses. The other measures are unlikely to occupy the attention of the House for very iong. With the passage of the eight Bills left on the Order Paper, Parliament will have passed 81 Bills this session. This comprises 68 Government Bills, 11 local Bills and two private Bills.
The House will resume at 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday, when tributes of respect will be paid to Mr L. G. Lowry, _ a former member of the House.' It will meet again at 2.30 n m. that day and will then proceed with ordinary business.
