KEEN BIDDING
AUCKLAND WOOL SALE \ BRADFORD BUYS HEAVILY P.A, AUCKLAND, Nov. 21. More than 10 hours were taken to clear the offering at the Auckland wool sale to-day. Although the bidding generally was spirited throughout, some buyers started cautiously at times and some lots were under the hammer for longer than usual. Representing Bradford, Continental, Australian and New Zealand firms, more than 50 buyers occupied the benches. The purchases were widely distributed among them. The keenest bidding came from a group of large buyers, most of whom were Bradford representatives interested in the medium-class product. In the main, the buyers for American firms were interested only in carpet wools and apart from this they bought little. The recent tariff agreement did not influence their activities at the sale and it was stated that the types of wool they would have bought freely were readily available to them from South America. Much of the lower-priced wool was bought by Continental buyers whose looms can use shorter wool than the English plants.
