FORMIDABLE SCORE
QUEENSLAND’S FIRST INNINGS MATCH AGAINST INDIANS Rec. 11 p.m. BRISBANE, Nov. 21. 1 Magnificent bowling by Mankad, star of the Indian team, a splendid century by the Queenslander Bill Morris, and the most attractive batting display of the- season by the test all-rounder McCool, marked the Queensland-India game to-day when Queensland scored 289 for seven wickets. Morris finished with 115, and Mankad took four wickets for 65 from 38 overs, including 12 maidens. It was the most accurate and destructive bowling since O’Reilly .was at his best. McCool scored 45 in 50 minutes. It was a sparkling display, including the best hook shots of the season. The Indians appreciated the change to Queensland’s warmer climate and fielded brilliantly all day. The wicket was true, but fairly fast, and likely to be responsive to spin over the closing stages. To-day Mankad got plenty of nip from the wicket and was always dangerous. More than ever he justified the claim that he is the best lefthander since Verity* Scores: — Queensland i First Innings R.
