Dominion Firm Pays Record Price for Wool

p A AUCKLAND, Nov. 21. The highest price ever received for New Zealand wool —56d a lb—was paid in the Auckland Town Hall to-day when the new season’s fleece was being auctioned. This price was paid for super half-bred by the New Zealand firm which also set the previous record of 551 dat both Timaru and Dunedin last month. When the wool came under the hammer, only two bidders took an active interest in it. One represented a French firm and the other a New Zealand factory. They started at 50d and raised their bids a penny a time while the rest of the buyers sat and watched. This sale was the feature of the offering of 25,550 bales which brought growers very good returns. It was estimated to-night that, the total yield from the sale would be about & 750,000.
