OTAGO POWER BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Otago Electric Power Board, held at Milton, was attended by Messrs J. B. McGill (chairman), G. Moore, A. Anderson, J. R. Copland, W. Cameron, R. H. Michelle; D. J. Ireland, and W. Lee. The engineer (Mr R. Hide) reported that the canvass in the Clydevale area had been completed and,so far as the Clydevale-Tuapeka Mouth area was concerned some 219 consumers had signed up, the total guarantees being £6602.105, an average of £2B Bs. In the Pukeawa, Wairua, Tuapeka West, and Waitahuna areas the guarantees were on the light side and there were not sufficient to warrant the scheme going through at present, but the indications were that they would eventually reach the required amount. The clerk of the Clutha County Council wrote concerning the proposed agreement with the board, suggesting that the board draw up an agreement setting out the conditions.—The secretary (Mr L. W. Potter) said he had written asking .the council to submit its plans, but no reply had been received.—Held over till next meeting. The financial statement showed that the receipts totalled £6779 17s 9d, of which amount £6327 2s 2d came from sales of electricity. The expenditure was £12,063 13s 7d passed by the meeting totalled £3265 chairman extended his thanks to the four members who were not seeking re-election (Messrs Michelle, Lee, Cameron, and Lowis) and to all other members, and the staff, for assistance given at all times. Mr Michelle said that during his 15J years service he had not missed a meeting. He wished the board continued success. Mr Lee said things were different from what they were when he joined the board 15$ years ago, and he paid a tribute to Mr Potter as secretary.
