We do -not find anything about “ immortal soul ”, in the Bible. We read about “ soul ” often enough, and the word “ immortal ” appears, but we do not find the two words joined, nor that immortality belongs to anybody NOW. We read that man is MORTAL now; that DEATH has entered the world by sin; that where sin is DEATH MUST BE; and that death will only be destroyed with Christ’s final triumph upon earth—(l Cor. 15 26.) Proof: “Mortal man” (Job 4: 17). “By one man sin entered the world and DEATH by sin, and so DEATH has passed upon all men” (Rom. 5: 12). “The wages of sin IS DEATH” (Rom. 6: 23). “ The end of these things IS DEATH ” (Rom. 6: 23) “And the last enemy THAT SHALL BE DESTROYED IS DEATH " (I Cor. 15: 25-26). If all this be so, how can the doctrine of immortality of the soul be true? Because if MAN IS MORTAL, then he is NOT IMMORTAL; and if DEATH has passed upon all men, then it must be wrong to say that he is never-dying and cannot die; and if DEATH BE NOT A FACT, how can Christ take it (DEATH) away? We read that the HOPE of immortality is to be realised, by a change of the MORTAL BODY if alive when Christ comes, or by a resurrection of that MORTAL BODY if in the grave. Proof: “He shall change OUR VILE BODY” (Phil. 3: 21). "Th’r mortal (BODY) must put on immortality ” (I Cor. 15: 53). “We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed ” (verse 5). “The Lord Himself shall DESCEND from Heaven and the dead in Christ shall rise first (I Thes. 4: 15). “ Clothed upon that mortality might be swallowed up of life” (2 Cor. 5: 4). How can this be if one were already immortal, and if that immortality resided in an invisible spirit which goes away from the body when one dies? Let it be noted also that it is the MORTAL, the BODY, that MUST PUT ON immortality We read that the dead are to be judged AT THE COMING OF CHRIST.-that the righteous are to be rewarded, and the wicked punished AT THAT TIME. Proof: “He shall judge the living and the dead at his appearing” (2 Tim. 4: 1). “ 7710 Sdn of Man shall COME in His glory, and THEN shall he reward every man according to his works” (Matt. 26: 27). “We must all stand before the dgment scat of Christ” (2 Cor. 5: ID). What is the meaning of a day of judgent if all is settled before that time rives? Christ's own words upon His RISING ROM DEATH in a mortal body were: Touch Me not, for I am not SCENDED to My Father” (John 20: ). See also what constituted that " I yself” (Luke 24: 39-43). It could be indled and gazed upon, “being seen of iem 40 days” (Acts 1: 3) prior to its SCENDING into heaven, from which will also DESCEND, as God states (Acts 11). “This same Jesus Which is taken 3 from you into heaven shall so come i like manner as ye have seen Him > into heaven.” , ~ , ~ Reader: It was the serpent that said, Ye shall not surely die (Gen. 3: 4). and at God (Gen 2: 17).
