Rec. 8 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 19. The P. and O. Shipping Company, in a preliminary balance sheet statement, announces a net profit of £830,887 for the year ended September 30, 1947, and dividends of 5 per cent, on preference stock ■and 8 per cent, plus a 4 per cent, bonus on deferred stock, all less income tax of 9s in the £l. The statement shows allocations totalling £295,000 as against nil last year before striking the profit, and transfers to reserves totalling £450,000, against £375,000 last year.
