SUBURBAN RE-COUNTS

GOOD PROGRESS MADE A good start was made with the official recount at Port Chalmers yesterday, the counting of mayoral and Otago .Harbour Board votes being completed. It is expected that the council recount will be finished today.’ The figures in respect of the mayoralty are substantially the same, being as follows:—T. Anderson (Ind.) 574, F. C. Smith (L.) 525, informal 65. The final figures for the two Port Chalmers members of the Otago Harbour Board were:—T. Anderson (Ind.) 670, C. O. Knewstubb (Ind.) 580. The two unsuccessful candidates were J. Bain (Ind.) 463 and F. C. Smith (L.) 407. There were 16 informal votes, for the Mayor and council of the Green Island Borough began yesterday. The final figures for the mayoral election gave Mr James Boomer three more votes, giving him a lead of 481 over Mr T. McAhan. The final results were: Boomer 776 (first count 773), McAhan 295 (296), W. A. Miller 163 (160), informal 27 (21). The recount of voting for the council should be completed to-day. The recount of the voting in the St. Kilda Borough elections was also commenced yesterday, and it is expected that these will be completed to-mor-row.
