YACHT CAPSIZES

Lucky Escape for Occupants

Messrs G. Jamieson (owner), D. Smith, M. Kaye and Miss L. Ferris, all of Oamaru, had a lucky escape from prolonged immersion in the sea when they were rescued by Mr W. Henderson in the launch Coral and Mr O. L. Cuthbertson in the launch Auriga, after the 14-foot yacht Delight capsized about 20 yards off the entrance to the Oamaru Harbour on Wednesday afternoon. The first two attempts by Cuthbertson to salvage the yacht proved fruitless, the rope breaking both times, but the third attempt was successful and the yacht was towed back to harbour with only superficial damage.
