SUPERANNUATION SCHEME
Sir, —The time has arrived when the people of this country will have to take action and dispose of our present style of government. Government members are only public servants, yet they have the nerve to raise their own salaries and introduce superannuation schemes for themselves: The Opposition members arei no better in this respect as these two Bills were the only ones introduced 'in the House by the Labour Government during its long reign that were not opposed by the Opposition. The vast amount of unnecessary highly paid Government officials are also a tremendous drain on the country Many people would no doubt have read the article by Principal Haddon on Nebraska, where the people decided to do away with party politics and the'State is now debt free. If a movement was promoted here to that effect I am quite sure the people would be 100 per cent, behind it.—l am. etc. W. Smith. [The Leader of the Opposition informed the House that he could not accep’ the proposed superannuation scheme without an opportunity for more mature consideration.—Ed. O.D.T.]
