MONTHLY BOARD MEETING The monthly meeting of the Vincent Hospital Board was attended by Messrs S. A. Steven (chairman), W. Bringans, J. Swann. R. E. F. Butcher, W. D. Naylor, E. J. Naylor, and R. Tohill. Before commencing the business, the chairman made reference to the bereavements suffered by two of the board members recently— Messrs G. Wishart and E. Naylor—in the deaths of Mrs Wishart and Mr Joseph Naylor. , , The Department of Health forwarded particulars of social security benefits for hearing aids for deaf people, by which hearing aids of a specified type will be available free of charge, or alternatively the payment of a subsidy of £ls towards the cost of such other types of hearing aid as may be approved by the department. , , The Wellington Aero Club forwarded a circular advising that a twin-engined aircraft was now available from the club lor ambulance work and other urgent cases, and could be flown direct between almost any two points in New Zealand without intermediate stops. The hospital statistics for the month of October are:—Dunstan Hospital: 37 admitted, 36 discharged, 20 remaining at the end of the month; 40 out-patient attendances and 33 out-patient X-ray examinations. Cromwell Hospital: 48 admitted, 51 discharged, 27 remaining at the end of the month: 54 out-patient attendances and 19 out-patient X-ray examinations. Matron McLees, Dunstan Hospital, reported that Sister Clearie and Nurse McKenzie had resigned during the past month. District Nurse Moore, Tarras, reported that 10 patients had been attended. The treasurer reported a debit balance of £1076 2s on the current account. Accounts, salaries, and wages for the past month, totalling £1766 2s 6d. were passed for payment.
