RABBIT SKIN SALE
OFFERING OF MODERATE QUALITY GENERAL DECLINE IN PRICES The Dunedin Stock Agents’ and Woolbrokers’ Association (Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Donald Reid and Co., Ltd., Stronach, Morris and Co., Ltd., New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., Otago Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Ltd., and National Mortgage and Agency Company, Ltd.), report that at the rabbitskin sale held yesterday approximately 45 tons were offered. Naturally at this time of the year the bulk of the skins comprised hatters’ grades. There was the usual attendance of buyers, but there did not appear to be a keen demand, with the result that prices all-over showed a reduction when compared with those ruling at the last sale. On the average values were down from 2d to 15d per lb. The following is the range of prices: Summers, 32d to 35d per lb; second milky, 30d to 34d; first milky, 67d to 80d; second spring bucks, to 80d; second spring does, to 108 d; first spring bucks, 86Jd to 95d; first spring does. 107 d to 108 d; late bucks, to lOOd; late does, to 113 d; third broken, 33Jd to 38d; second broken, 77£d to 84d; black, to 20d; fawn, to 20d; hareskins, to 20d; horsehair, 48d per lb; first large ferrets, 6d to 2s each; second ferrets. Id to 3d each; first white ferrets, fid each; first stoat skins, 7s 5d to 7s 7d each; goat skins, Is 6d to 2s per lb; first red deer, to 4s 8d per lb. The next sale is listed to take place on December 9.
