ELECTION DAY
POLLING FOR LOCAL BODIES
The elections to decide the constitution of local bodies throughout the Otago district will be held today. Polling booths will be opened at 9 a.m., and voting will close at 7 p.m. , , .. Political interest in the elections centres in the contests for seats on city and suburban local bodies, and. while the argument in the cam-
paigns has been concentrated on questions of general principle rather than on major local issues, there has been no lack of evidence that public interest in the results is as keen as at any previous poll. ' It is expected that the result of the election for the city mayoralty will be announced by 8 o’clock, and the constitution of the new council should be known some two hours later.
