After long and distinguished service to the University of Otago, Dr R. Jack, professor of physics, and Dr R. J. T. Bell, professor of mathematics, are retiring at the close of the 1947 session. Yesterday they were entertained by the University Council and appointed professors emeriti. Dr Jack is seen acknowledging the minute of appreciation presented by the Chancellor, the Very Rev. D. C.
