PALESTINE PARTITION

FINAL BOUNDARY CHANGES SUB-COMMITTEE’S APPROVAL Rec. 10 p.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 17. The Palestine Partition Sub-commit-tee to-day approved the final boundary change which gives to the proposed Arab State the town of Beersheba and the surrounding district, plus portion of the land on the north-west frontier of Negeb, totalling about 575,000 acres. The status of Jerusalem remains to be decided. The United States and Russia compromised on partition this afternoon agreeing that British rule should end on August 1, and that Palestine be divided into Arab and Jewish States

two months after the British withdrawal. Soviet and- American delegates also agreed that the big Powers should have limited veto power over the operation of the Five Nation Commission which the United Nations will establish to prepare Palestine for independence.
